Welcome
to the eighth issue of the MOFI project
newsletter. This first-ever newsletter
on the issue of mitigating Mediterranean
Monk seal and fisheries interaction, aims
at keeping stakeholders informed about the project’s
news, activities and results, while providing them
with the opportunity to express their views.
In this issue, the program has reached in
its end, but according to the Project Leader Stella
Adamandopoulou, “the hour for action has only just
begun!”. After 4 years of research actions, rescue
expeditions, awareness campaigns and environmental
education, the program has been completed. The present
issue introduces the Action Plan and the New National
Strategy for the Protection of the Monk Seal, while
the program’s project leader shares her experience
through an interview. The
MOFI Newsletter is published twice per year by
the project’s beneficiary, MOm/Hellenic Society
for the Study and Protection of the Monk Seal.
